Healing Prayer Ministry
Did you know that All Saints and Ladner United Church have been providing a Healing Prayer Ministry as a joint outreach to both congregations for the past 4 years? The group offers healing sessions on Tuesdays twice per month - one in the afternoon and one in the evening. We have been providing the healing sessions only at Ladner United but in May we will have our sessions at All Saints; afterwards we will leave a table at All Saints so that we can better accommodate the needs of both congregations. Healing prayer offers confidential healing and prayer sessions with healing touch techniques in a sacred space. All members are certified through the Healing Pathways Certificate Program that is run by the United Church Naramata Center. The name “Healing Prayer” reflects the group’s belief that prayer is at the heart of our ministry and it is through prayer that we offer the gift of healing touch. Healing touch is a series of hand motions that are made over or on (with permission) the person’s body to create another way to connect with God. More details will be found in the February issue of Saints Alive! ![]() Messy Church comes to Ladner The Church is buzzing with excitement and children’s music fills the air. Around a table adults and children burst into laughter as they wrestle with metallic tubing and googly eyes and their teenage helpers despair of ever creating the promised artifact. A toddler slaps green paint on a huge sheet of card under the watchful eye of a Granny (not sure if they're related or not - it doesn't really matter). A five-year-old watches wide-eyed as an enthusiastic leader shows her how to bang in a nail. There’s a delicious smell wafting out of the kitchen. The ten-year-olds, intent on their glass-painting, agree it must be chicken nuggets. Our priest, Elizabeth, takes a photo of the surreal result of the modelling and two mums catch up on the news as they drink welcome cups of tea and slowly decorate gift bags while their children make something unidentifiable but very “messy” in the Narthex. Just another Messy Church. Messy Church is All Saints’ attempt to be church for families who might want to meet Jesus, belong to their local church and bring up their children as Christians but can’t cope with traditional Sunday morning church services. It's a once-a-month time of creativity, worship and eating together. We meet at All Saints at 5:30 pm on the last Saturday of each month (except July and August). Come and “get messy”. It’s perfect for all ages, to come and gather for fun, fellowship, and feast. |
